Western Arizona
Cheekily referred to as Arizona’s “West Coast” by the locals, western Arizona is a place where the cool, blue Colorado River and the placid waters of many lakes and reservoirs combine to create the perfect climate for fun in the sun.
As you trace the mighty Colorado’s path from the Hoover Dam to Mexico, you’ll fall in love with vibrant communities filled with fascinating museums and attractions, natural wonders and wildlife habitats.
Along the way, you’ll encounter many spots highlighting the area’s proximity to Route 66, an infamous highway with an…interesting history.
Picture to the right is Lake Havasu, home to London Bridge. The bridge was built in the 1830s and formerly spanned the River Thames in London, England. It was dismantled in 1967 and relocated to Arizona to link an island in the Colorado River with the main part of Lake Havasu City.
