Arizona has two international airports, one in in the centrally located capitol city of Phoenix and a smaller one in the southern city of Tucson.
Most UK travellers fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (airport code PHX), which was named “Best Large Airport in the US” by the Wall Street Journal.
Both American Airlines and British Airways offer daily direct flights to Phoenix from London Heathrow.

Arizona uses the US dollar.
Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has two locations for exchanging currencies. Operated by Travelex, the currency exchange locations are located in Terminal 4. One location is on Level 3, pre-security, just outside the B checkpoint. The other location in Terminal 4 is located past security next to gate B-15.
Most major US banks also offer currency exchange, with the largest being Bank of America.
Arizona is 7 hours behind Greenwich Mean Time (GMT-7).
In the US, Arizona’s time zone designation can be tricky since the state doesn’t participate in Daylight Savings like most of the country. Time zone alignment fluctuates between Mountain Standard Time and Pacific Daylight Time depending on the time of year.
Navajo Nation observes daylight savings time, unlike the rest of the state.
Arizona has a rich culinary history that draws from both the indigenous traditions and modern trends.
Southwest flavours can be easily found, from Mexican street tacos to savoury or sweet Indian Fry Bread. And then there’s the state’s most famous nosh, the Sonoran hot dog—a hot dog wrapped in bacon and grilled, served on a bolillo-style bun, and topped with pinto beans, onions, tomatoes, and a variety of condiments.
Arizona has a burgeoning culinary scene attracting top chefs from around the country. Craft beers and even craftier cocktails are all the rage. And, you can sample wines from 115 homegrown wineries.
Arizona has three main growing regions all located within the high desert: Sonoita/Elgin region in southern Arizona, the Cochise County/Willcox area in southeastern Arizona and the Verde Valley near Sedona in central Arizona.
Arizona is officially nicknamed the Grand Canyon state with over six million people visiting the Grand Canyon National Park each year
